Project Goals
- Raise awareness of food insecurity issues at Norco High School through a series of posters and student announcements made during the fall of 2014.
- Develop teacher understanding of the effects of food insecurity on
the learning ability of students through a presentation to be held during an all staff meeting by the early winter of 2014. - Create a food distribution program at Norco High School housed in the Agriculture Department to help students that face food insecurity by providing nutritionally dense meals for weekends and breaks when free and reduced meals are not available. The food pantry will be opened for business by the early winter of 2014.
- Produce a model food distribution program that can be implemented at other schools in the Riverside County Region to be shared through various Agricultural Programs in the county by the spring of 2015.
